In the 1960’s – 70’s, Friedlander became influential, often imitating the Visual Language of Urban “Social Landscape”. Including using fragments of store-front reflections, structures framed by fences.

This image communicates using light as a point of reference, with the light coming in from the right side angle of the photograph frame. As clearly showcased, this light focusses on the person adjusting a circle towards the sun, to create a shadow as the light reflects.

From the standpoint of the observer, this image using Friedlander communicates that the environment in the opposing side of the glass, has an alternative perspective. The outside reflection communicates a busy and hectic lifestyle, contrasting the empty and quiet environment as communication from inside the cafe.
Contemporary artist Stezaker utilises collage and appropriation, employing materials; vintage photographs, Hollywood film stills, postcards and printed matter. Using qualities of Surrealism, this is seductive and fascinating.

As a bystander, it is clear Stezaker has distinctly utilised two different image types of male and female, overlaying the two. This placement of photographs has created a vision of being whole, making the image more appealing to the audience and the image more effective.

In this image, Stezaker has utilised both portrait and landscape images to highlight and communicate the key features of this piece. The landscape image focuses upon alternative perspective of facial features utilising nature, that link in and connect with the portrait image of the man in the frame.
My target for task one was to create three John Stezaker-inspired photos, so I’m going to combine two photographs together as one image for my John Stezaker style. What I also really don’t like about these pictures is that the surface colours are very harsh.
My goal for task two was to build three John Stezaker-inspired images, I have concentrated more on the image frame colours, tones and shadows, what I find really interesting about these three edits is that they are more oriented. And that makes these pictures more effective for me.

I found the creation process of the edits inspired by John Stezaker very fascinating as I looked at a broader range of landscapes, close-ups and reflections, so, I feel that progress has helped me understand more about the ways in which you can use images that can be put together as one. For my final picture, which is the style of Stezaker, I want to convey the final picture to the audience as the way I am See that and that is where the flower is at the centre of the frame of the photograph. In the centre of the plant’s human body, the herb is much more concentrated, and I focus back on the inside. The lungs of the human body, as there are more for me in that part of the body whenwearing the flowers. So, for me, the object of the editing was nicely put together.
